Procedure
KOH (1.68 g, 33.5 mmol) in MeOH (100 mL) was added to 2,2-dimethyl-N-[6-(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidin-1-ylmethyl)-pyridin-2-yl]-propionamide (150 mg, 0.45 mmol) and the resulting mixture was heated at reflux for 12 h. After cooling to 25° C., the mixture was neutralized to pH 7–8 with concentrated HCl and extracted with CHCl3 (3×75 mL). The organics were combined and dried over MgSO4. Concentration in vacuo gave a pale yellow solid. MS m/z: 247.7 (M+). Calc'd for C15H25N3-247.38.
