The mixture of 5.1 g of p-bromoallylbenzene, 8.5 g of m-chloroperbenzoic acid and 200 ml of chloroform was allowed to stand at about 5° C for 7 days. The resulting mixture was washed with 10% sodium hydroxide solution, water, Mohr's salt solution, then water, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated to obtain 4.8 g (yield 85%) of p-bromoallylbenzene oxide.
