A mixture of 11.4 g of the product of Step A, 120 ml of toluene and 300 mg of p-toluene sulfonic acid was refluxed for one hour and was cooled to room temperature. The mixture was washed with water, dried and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure to obtain 9.5 g of (1R,cis)2,2-dimethyl-3-[2,2,2-trichloroethoxycarbonyl-ethynyl]-cyclopropane-carboxylic acid which used as is for the next step.
