4,5-Dihydro-6-[4-(2-acetoxypropyl)phenyl]-3(2H)pyridazinone (0.73 g) was heated under reflux in 2N sodium hydroxide solution for 2 hr, cooled, neutralised with 2N hydrochloric acid, and extracted into ethyl acetate. The organic extract was dried (MgSO4) and evaporated to an oil which was chromatographed on silica gel. Elution with methanol-chloroform (4:96) gave 4,5-dihydro-6-[4-(2-hydroxypropyl)phenyl]-3(2H)pyridazinone as a white solid.
