Procedure
To a solution of 7.72 g (0.1 mole) of cysteamine in 40 cm3 of methanol, maintained under an inert atmosphere and cooled to a temperature between 0° and 5° C., there are added, by portions, 15.43 g (0.1 mole) of hexahydrophthalic anhydride. After 7 hours of stirring at this temperature, there remains only traces of the starting cysteamine. The solution is evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure at ambient temperature. 23 g of N-(2-mercapto ethyl) hexahydrophthalamic acid are obtained in the form of a colorless oil.
