To a stirred suspension of 3-{[6-cyclopropyl-3-(pyrimidin-5-ylamino)-pyrazine-2-carbonyl]-amino}-isonicotinic acid ethyl ester (972 mg, 2.4 mmol) at rt in ethanol (15 ml) under an argon atmosphere was added 1 N NaOH (3 ml, 3.0 mmol). The suspension was stirred at rt for overnight. After the addition of 1 N HCl (3 ml) stirring was continued for 1 hr. The solid was collected by filtration, washed with H2O, then EtOH and dried.
