Procedure

1.25 M HCl in MeOH (75 μL, 0.094 mmol) was added to a solution of 4-((5-fluoropyridin-2-yl)methoxy)-1-(10-methyl-1,2,3,4,5,10-hexahydroazepino[3,4-b]indol-8-yl)pyridin 2(1H)-one (39 mg, 0.094 mmol) in MeOH (2.0 mL), and the resulting solution was stirred at ambient temperature for 1 h. The mixture was concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure to yield the title compound (36 mg, 85%) as a light yellow powder: mp 268-275° C. decomp.; 1H NMR (500 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 8.62 (d, J=3.0 Hz, 1H), 8.19 (br s, 1H), 7.84-7.80 (m, 1H), 7.66-7.64 (m, 1H), 7.58-7.51 (m, 2H), 7.45 (d, J=1.5 Hz, 1H), 6.95 (dd, J=8.0, 3.0 Hz, 1H), 6.12 (dd, J=7.5, 2.5 Hz, 1H), 5.96 (d, J=3.0 Hz, 1H), 5.21 (s, 2H), 4.39 (s, 2H), 3.71 (s, 3H), 3.38-3.36 (m, 2H), 2.95-2.93 (m, 2H), 1.93-1.92 (m, 2H); ESI MS m/z 419 [M+H]+; HPLC (Method A) 98.3% (AUC), tR=13.0 min.
