To a stirred solution of (4-methyl-piperidin-4-yl)-carbamic acid benzyl ester hydrochloride salt (0.15 g, 0.53 mmol, Example 30B) in dichloromethane (3 mL) at room temperature was added methyl 4-chlorocarbonylbenzoate (0.125 g, 0.62 mmol) and triethylamine (0.17 mL, 1.2 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours, aqueous ammonium chloride was added, and the mixture was extracted with dichloromethane (2×). The combined organic layers were washed with 10% KHSO4, sat. NaHCO3, brine, dried (MgSO4), and concentrated under reduced pressure to provide the titled compound. MS (CI) m/z 411 (M+1)+; 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ ppm 8.07 (d, 2H), 7.46 (d, 2H), 7.33 (m, 5H), 5.06 (s, 2H), 4.63 (m, 1H—NH), 4.18-4.13 (m, 2H), 3.95 (s, 3H), 3.36 (m, 2H), 2.09 (m, 2H), 1.78-1.42 (m, 2H), 1.41 (s, 3H).
