Conditions
- Temperature
- 50 °C
Procedure
A mixture of 3 g of 1,5-dihydro-5-hydroxy-2H-pyrrol-2-one in 60 cm3 of n-pentyl alcohol and 1.5 g of Amberlite IR 120 H is heated to 50° C. for 3 hours. The temperature is allowed to return to the ambient, and after filtering, the solvent is distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue is distilled at 20° C. under 0.08 mbar. 3.8 g of the expected product is obtained, utilized as it is for the following stage.
