The product from Example 11B (0.34 g, 3.0 mmol), 3-bromo-4-methylbenzaldehyde (Pearson.; Org. Synth. Coll. Vol. V, 1973, 117) (0.60 g, 3.0 mmol) and methyl 3-aminocrotonate (0.35 g, 3.0 mmol) in methanol (8 mL) were heated at 80° C. in a sealed tube for 60 hours. After cooling to ambient temperature, the mixture was filtered and the filter cake washed with methanol and dried to provide the title compound (0.63 g).
