To a solution of (2R, 5S)-2-(2-amino-4-chloro-phenoxy)-1-[4-(4-fluoro-benzyl)-2,5-dimethyl-piperazin-1-yl]-ethanone (0.150 g, 0.37 mmol) in dichloromethane (7 ml) was added pyridine (0.066 ml, 0.82 mmol) followed by 4-nitrophenyl chloroformate (0.075 g, 0.41 mmol). The reaction was stirred at ambient temperature for 3½ hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated followed by chromatography on silica gel to give the title compound (0.153 g, 74% yield).
