Reaction Steps
A mixture of 6-(1-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-(1-trityl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)propyl)-2-naphthoaldehyde (2.0 g), tosylmethylisocyanide (800 mg) and K2CO3 (1.0 g) in methanol was refluxed for 2 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with water. The precipitate formed was collected and crystallized from THF-hexane to give the titled compound (1.39 g) as colorless powder.
