Procedure
A mixture of 8 parts of 3-(3-methylphenyl)-1-(phenylmethyl)-3-pyrrolidinol hydrochloride and 150 parts of a hydrochloric acid solution 6N was stirred and refluxed for 3 hours. After cooling, the reacting mixture was evaporated, yielding 7.4 parts (100%) of 2,3-dihydro-4-(3-methylphenyl)-1-(phenylmethyl)-1H-pyrrole hydrochloride as a residue (intermediate 47).
