Procedure
A mixture of 1.9 parts of phenol. 2.9 parts of 3-chloro-6-[4-(3-methylphenyl)-1-piperazinyl]pyridazine and 2.76 parts of potassium carbonate was stirred and heated for 7 hours in an oil bath at 150° C. After cooling, water was added. The product was extracted with trichloromethane. The extract was dried, filtered and evaporated. The residue was crystallized from a mixture of 2-propanol and 2,2'-oxybispropane. The product was filtered off and dried, yielding 2 parts (60%) of 3-[4-(3-methylphenyl)-1-piperazinyl]-6-phenoxypyridazine; mp. 123.4° C. (compound 264).
