Procedure
3,4-Dihydro-1-methyl-6-phenylpyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazine (0.6 g) was dissolved in 10 ml of ethanol and treated with 0.9 ml of methyl iodide under argon. The solution was boiled overnight, cooled and the separated crystals were filtered off. There was obtained 0.8 g (78%) of 3,4-dihydro-1,2-dimethyl-6-phenylpyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazinium iodide; m.pt.: 213°-216° C. (dec.).
