Procedure

A mixture of 5.43 g of 4'-[[2-butyl-6-[1-(5-hexenyl)-1H-tetrazol-5-yl]-4-oxo-3(4H)-quinazolinyl]methyl][1,1'-biphenyl]-2-carbonitrile in 100 ml of diphenylether is heated for 3 hours. The reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature and diluted with 1L of hexanes. The oily compound is separated from the hexanes-diphenylether mixture and purified by column chromatography on silica gel by eution with 75% ethyl acetate-hexanes to give 2.1 g of the desired product as solid.
