10.5 g of the compound obtained in Stage A in 300 ml of a 48% hydrobromic acid solution, are refluxed for 20 hours. After evaporation and washing twice with ethanol, the residue is taken up in acetone and the mixture then filtered to give 4-(naphth-1-yl)piperidine hydrobromide.
