Reaction Steps

Sodium hydroxide hydrolysis of N-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl)-N-[3-(tetradecyloxy)benzoyl]glycine methyl ester as in Example 4 gave N-(carboxymethyl)-N-[3-(tetradecyloxy)benzoyl]glycine, mp 96°-99°.
