Reaction Steps

Sodium hydroxide hydrolysis of N-(2-ethoxy-2-oxoethyl)-N-[5-[(12-phenoxydodecyl)oxy]-2-(phenylmethoxy)benzoyl]glycine ethyl ester using conditions described in Example 81 gave N-(carboxymethyl)-N-[5-[(12-phenoxydodecyl)oxy]-2-(phenylmethoxy)benzoyl]glycine (65% yield, mp 70°-75°).
