Reaction Steps
Reductive amination of 1-benzyl-pyrrolidin-3-one with (3R)-ethyl nipecotate was carried out according to the procedure described above for Intermediate 1 to give (3R)-1-(1-benzyl-pyrrolidin-3-yl)-piperidine-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (containing a small amount of the isopropyl ester) as a yellow oil (1.23 g, 39%).
