Procedure

To a solution of the 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-(4-pyridinyl)ethanone (2-hydroxyethyl)hydrazone prepared in step 1 (2.73 g, 0.01 mol) and (1,1-dimethylethyl)dimethylsilyl chloride (1.5 g, 0.01 mol) in 25 mL of DMF was added imidazole portionwise. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. Water was added and extracted with ethyl acetate, the organic layer was washed with water, washed with brine, dried over magnesium sulfate and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated to give 3.8 g of crude product, 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-(4-pyridinyl)ethanone [2-[[(1,1-dimethylethyl)dimethylsilyl]oxy]ethyl]hydrazone, as a yellow oil that was used in the next step without further purification. Step 3: 5-cyclopropyl-1-[2-[[(1,1-dimethylethyl)dimethylsilyl]oxy]ethyl]-3,4-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole
