Reaction Steps
7-Benzenesulfonyl-chroman-4-ol (483 mg, 1.66 mmol) was dissoved in 10 mL toluene, and 182 uL (02.49 mmol) of thionyl chloride was added. The reaction was refluxed for two hours, and then cooled to room temperature. Solvent was removed under reduced pressure to yield 7-benzenesulfonyl-4-chloro-chroman (512 mg) as a crude oil. MS: 308 (M+H)+.
