Procedure

21.59 (0.162 mol) of AlCl3 were added in portion to a solution of 12 g (0.0369 mol) of 2-methyl-2-morpholin-yl-1-(4-phenoxy-phenyl)-propan-1-one and 9.57 g of (0.0406 mol) of α-bromoisobutyrylbromide (97.5% w/w) in 240 ml of dichloromethane, between 0 and 5° C. under stirring. At the end of the addition the temperature was brought to 25° C. then after 2.5 h the reaction was quenched with 500 ml of water and ice. The organic phase was separated and washed with water and 5% NaOH, dried on sodium sulphate, filtered and evaporated obtaining 17.5 g of a reddish oil.
