N-Boc-(2S)-prolinol (6.04 g) in 100 mL of dichloromethane was treated with 4.04 g of triethylamine, cooled to 0° C., and treated with methanesulfonyl chloride (4.0 g) slowly. After stirring at 0° C. for 30 minutes, the reaction was allowed to warm to room temperature, washed with 5% aqueous NaHCO3 solution, dried over sodium sulfate, and concentrated to dryness to give the title compound as an off-white oil (8.47 g).
