A solution of 1.77 g (5.46 mmol) of methyl [3-(5-methyl[1,2,4]oxadiazol-3-yl)phenoxy]-2-phenylacetate in 15 ml of methanol is treated with 10 ml of 1 N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and heated at 80° C. for 3 hours. The reaction mixture is concentrated and the residue is treated with 1 N hydrochloric acid. It is extracted with ethyl acetate and the organic phase is evaporated.
