5-[(R)-2-(2-{4-[4-(2-amino-2-methyl-propoxy)-phenylamino]-phenyl}-ethylamino)-1-hydroxy-ethyl]-8-hydroxy-1H-quinolin-2-one (0.108 g) was slurried in aqueous tetrahydrofuran (1:1 THF:H2O, 1.2 mL). 4-Phenylcinnamic acid (0.049) was added to the stirred mixture at room temperature and spontaneous crystallisation occurred. The mixture was stirred for over 1 hour and then filtered. The filtered solid was washed with aqueous tetrahydrofuran (1:1 THF:H2O, 2×0.2 mL). Having been left to sit at ambient conditions for several hours, the wet solid was dried overnight at 60° C. in vacuo to give the title compound.
