53.0 g of t-butyl 4-[7-(2-butynyl)-2-(2-carbamoylphenoxy)-1-methyl-6-oxo-6,7-dihydro-1H-purin-8-yl]piperazine-1-carboxylate was dissolved in 160 ml of trifluoroacetic acid, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for one hour. 1250 ml of a 2 M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution was added drop wise to the reaction solution, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for one hour and 50 minutes. The resulting white precipitate was collected by filtration. The white solid was washed with water and then with ethanol, and dried at 60° C. overnight to give 42.8 g of the title compound.
