Hydrochloric acid in dioxane (4 M, 5 mL) was added to tert-butyl {2-[[(3-{[5-chloro-4-(3-chloro-5-cyanophenoxy)-1H-1,2,3-benzotriazol-1-yl]methyl}-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-1-yl)carbonyl](methyl)amino]ethyl}carbamate (620 mg, 974 mmol) at 0° C. After 2 hours, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue crystallized from ethanol. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 8.68 (d, J=4.5 Hz, 1H), 8.28 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.97 (d, J=9.1 Hz, 1H), 7.90 (s, 1H), 7.82 (m, 1H), 7.55 (m, 1H), 7.43 (m, 1H), 6.50 (s, 2H), 3.65 (m, 2H), 3.1 (m, 5H).
