To a stirred solution of 5-iodo-4′-methyl-biphenyl-3-carboxylic acid (2-methoxy-1-methyl-ethyl)-amide (0.41 g, 1 mmol) and 4-methylthiazole (5 mmol) in 4 ml of DMF was added Pd(PPh3)4 (0.03 mmol) and CH3COOK (0.198 g, 2 mmol). The reaction mixture were heated to 100° C. and stirred for 14 hours. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were washed with water and brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel, eluting with n-hexanes/ethyl acetate (1:6) to give 4′-Methyl-5-(4-methyl-thiazol-5-yl)-biphenyl-3-carboxylic acid (2-methoxy-1-methyl-ethyl)-amide (30 mg, 80%) as a light yellow solid, MS (M+H)=381.
