Procedure

A 25 ml single-necked round-bottomed flask, fitted with a reflux condenser is charged with dimethylformamidedimethylacetale (1.6 g), DMF (10 ml) and 6-(3,4-dichloro-phenoxy)-2,4-diisopropyl-pyridin-3-ylamine (1.70 g). The reaction mixture is heated under reflux and methanol is distilled off for 2.5 hours. The mixture is then concentrated in vacuo at 50° C. The crude material is crystallised from hexane/toluene acetate 4:1 (v:v): to obtain 1.41 g of the compound as a white solid (MP: 102-103° C.).
