Potassium carbonate (0.311 g, 2.25 mmol) and ethyl bromoacetate (0.319 g, 1.91 mmol) was added to the solution of 3,5-dimethylmorpholine (0.2 g, 1.73 mmol) in acetonitrile (4 mL) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 12 h. The reaction mixture was transferred into iced-water and extracted with ethyl acetate (20 mL×3). The combined organic layers was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the crude product, which was used in the next step without further purification (Crude Yield: 54%).
