To a solution of (S)—N—((S)-(3-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-(pyrimidin-2-yl)methyl)-2-methylpropane-2-sulfinamide (100 mg, 0.266 mmol) in MeOH (5 mL) was added hydrogen chloride (0.200 mL, 0.799 mmol) (4.0 M in 1,4-dioxane). The reaction was stirred for 2 h at rt under N2 and then concentrated in vacuo to give the amine as the hydrochloride salt which was used in the next step without further purification.
