To a solution of crude (S)-2-(2-(2-(3-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl)pyridin-4-yl)-7-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-methylbenzo[d]thiazol-6-yl)-2-tert-butoxyethyl pivalate from the previous reaction (assume 0.027 mmol) in THF (0.4 mL) and methanol (0.4 mL) was added NaOH (0.4 mL of a 2N solution). The reaction mixture was heated at 40° C. for 2 h, cooled, quenched with NH4Cl (sat. aq.), and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to give the crude product which was used without further purification. LCMS-ESI+: calc'd for C32H30ClN6O2S: 597.2 (M+H+); Found: 597.0 (M+H+).
