Procedure
Method C) Compound 10 was dissolved in toluene (8 mml/mmol) and to the solution was added potassium hydroxide (2 eq, 11.7N) and the solution was degassed. To the solution was added properly substituted benzyl bromide (1.1 eq), 2-di-t-butylphosphino-2′,4′,6′-triisopropylbiphenyl (0.06 eq) and tris-(dibenzylideneaceton)-dipalladium(0) (0.03 eq). The mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 1.25 hrs. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with EtOAc and washed with 5% NaHCO3 solution (10 ml/mmol). The organic layers were dried on MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to give compound 12 in yields varying from 30-80%.
