187 μl of methyl fluorosulfonate were added, whilst ice-cooling, to a solution of 700 mg of (2S, 4S)-1-ethyl-4-(4-methoxybenzylthio)-2-methylcarbamoylpyrrolidine dissolved in 30 ml of dry methylene chloride, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. At the end of this time, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, and the residue was washed repeatedly by decantation with diethyl ether and dried under reduced pressure to afford 950 mg of the title compound as a colorless oil.
