Methyl 7-(4-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)phenoxy)-6-cyanochroman-4-carboxylate (400 mg, 0.977 mmol) was diluted with CH2Cl2 followed by the addition of TFA (1 mL). After stirring for 2 hours, the reaction was concentrated to yield the title compound (240 mg, 69.5% yield).
