Synthesis was conducted as in Synthesis Example 2 using 44.6 g (0.23 mol) of the 4-n-butylcyclohexylmercaptan prepared above, 10.7 g (0.26 mol) of sodium hydroxide, 92 g of ethanol and 16.1 g (0.19 mol) of dichloromethane. There was obtained 48.0 g of the desired formaldehyde bis(4-n-butylcyclohexylthio)acetal.
