Synthesis was conducted as in Synthesis Example 2 using 38.1 g (0.22 mol) of the 4-n-propylcyclohexylmercaptan prepared above, 9.4 g (0.23 mol) of sodium hydroxide, 77 g of ethanol and 14.3 g (0.17 mol) of dichloromethane. There was obtained 41.2 g of the desired formaldehyde bis(4-n-propylcyclohexylthio)acetal.
