Procedure

The silyl ether 14 (1.49 g, 1.52 mmol, 1.0 eq) was dissolved in a 7:1:1:2 mixture of acetic acid/methanol/tetrahydrofuran/water (14:2:2:4 mL) and allowed to stir at room temperature. After 2 hours the reaction was diluted with EtOAc (100 mL), washed sequentially with water, aq. sodium bicarbonate then brine. The organic phase was then dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (silica gel, 100/0 then 99/1 to 92/8 v/v DCM/MeOH) to afford the product as an orange solid (1.2 g, 92%). LC/MS (3.649 min (ES+)), m/z: 865.44 [M+H]+. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.44 (s, 1H), 8.35 (s, 1H), 7.69 (br s, 1H), 7.53 (d, 2H, J=8.7 Hz), 7.32 (d, 2H, J=8.3 Hz), 6.78 (s, 1H), 6.56 (m, 2H), 6.32 (br s, 1H), 6.05 (d, 1H, J=14.9 Hz), 5.90 (m, 1H), 5.56 (m, 1H), 5.30 (m, 2H), 5.22 (m, 1H), 5.10 (d, 2H, J=3.1 Hz), 4.73 (m, 1H), 4.64 (m, 1H), 4.57 (d, 2H, J=5.8 Hz), 4.01 (m, 1H), 3.79 (m, 2H), 3.76 (s, 3H), 2.98 (dd, 1H, J=16.3, 10.2 Hz), 2.38 (dd, 1H, J=16.6, 4.1 Hz), 2.16 (m, 1H), 1.78 (dd, 3H, J=6.8, 0.9 Hz), 1.46 (d, 3H, J=7.1 Hz), 1.29 (m, 3H), 1.11 (d, 18H, J=7.4 Hz), 0.97 (d, 3H, J=6.7 Hz), 0.92 (d, 3H, J=6.8 Hz).
