3-Fluorophenyl magnesium bromide (1 M solution in THF; 0.86 ml, 4.33 mmol) was added dropwise to a solution of 8-nitroquinoline-7-carbaldehyde (Intermediate 204) (0.35 g, 1.73 mmol) in dry THF (5 ml) at −78° C. and the mixture was stirred at −78° C. for 1 h. The reaction was quenched with saturated NH4Cl solution and the aqueous phase was extracted with EtOAc. The organic phase was washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The crude residue was purified by column chromatography with DCM as the eluent to give the title compound (0.3 g, 58%).
