Aqueous lithium hydroxide (2 M, 1.06 mL, 2.12 mmol) is added to a solution of methyl 2-(4-(4-cyanophenyl)-2,5-dioxo-1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-1,2,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinazolin-3(4H)-yl)propanoate (intermediate 58, 350 mg, 0.70 mmol), and the mixture is stirred at room temperature over night. Water and dichloromethane are added, and the phases are separated. The organic layer is discarded, and the aqueous layer is acidified with aqueous hydrogen chloride (1 M) and extracted with dichloromethane. The organic phase is dried over MgSO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure. Yield: 274 mg; ESI mass spectrum [M+H]+=484; Retention time HPLC: 0.90 min (Z018_S04).
