(1-(4-Methylpyridin-2-yl)piperidin-4-yl)methanol (0.970 mmol, 0.2 g) and triethylamine (2.91 mmol, 0.404 mL, 0.294 g) were stirred in DCM at 0° C. Methanesulfonyl chloride (1.454 mmol, 0.113 mL, 0.167 g) was added dropwise and the reaction allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was washed with water, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to afford (1-(4-methylpyridin-2-yl)piperidin-4-yl)methyl methanesulfonate. (0.234 g)
