2-(4-Bromo-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy)ethanol (17.54 mmol, 5 g) and triethylamine (35.1 mmol, 4.88 ml, 3.55 g) were combined and stirred in DCM (100 ml) at 0° C. methanesulfonyl chloride (26.3 mmol, 2.036 ml, 3.01 g) was added and the reaction allowed to warm to room temperature over 1 hour. The reaction mixture was washed with water, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to afford 2-(4-bromo-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy)ethyl methanesulfonate. (5.64 g)
