To a solution of 108d (300 mg, 0.8 mmol) in methanol (8 mL) was added two drops of acetic acid, 30% formaldehyde solution (0.5 mL), and sodium triacetoxyborohydride (354 mg, 1.6 mmol) at room temperature. Then the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. At the end of reaction, water (10 mL) was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (20 mL×2). The combined organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 108e as a brown solid (280 mg, 90%). LCMS: [M+H]+ 392
