Pd/C 10 wt % (100 mg) was added to a degassed solution of 3-methyl-8-nitro-2-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)quinazolin-4(3H)-one 4 (1.3 g, 3.7 mmol) in THF (35 mL). The mixture was hydrogenated under balloon pressure for 12 h. The catalyst was removed by filtration and the solvent evaporated. The residue was purified by MPLC eluting with pentane/EtOAc (0-50%) to give 5 (1.1 g, 90% yield) as a yellow solid.
