Procedure
A 20 mL microwave vial was charged with 3-ethyl 8-methyl 4-oxo-2-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-1,4-dihydroquinoline-3,8-dicarboxylate 43 (820 mg, 1.96 mmol), dioxane (8 mL) and 1N HCl (4 mL). The reaction mixture was heated in a microwave reactor at 200° C. for 25 min then concentrated to dryness in vacuo to give 44 (585 mg, 90% yield).
