The compound of step 1 (0.43 g, 1.16 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (30 ml), 10% palladium on charcoal (200 mg) was added, and the flask flushed with argon. A balloon filled with hydrogen was connected, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The balloon was removed, the flask flushed with argon, the catalyst filtered off over Celite, and the filtrate was evaporated in vacuo to give 0.38 g of the title compound.
