To a stirred solution of 4-(4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (2.0 g, 0.0060 mol) in CH2Cl2 (19.0 mL), trifluoro acetic acid (3.46 g, 0.0303 mol) was added at 0° C. and the mixture was allowed to stir at RT overnight. CH2Cl2 and TFA were removed under reduced pressure and the crude product was filtered and washed with diethyl ether (2×20 mL) to obtain 4-(4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-piperidine trifluoro acetic acid salt with (1.58 g, 83%).
