A solution 1-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-6-methyl-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-pyridine-3-carboxylic acid (150 mg, 0.71 mmol) and N-iodosuccinimide (200 mg, 0.89 mmol) in TFA (1 mL) and dichloromethane (1 mL) is stirred for 5 days at room temperature. The reaction mixture is diluted with water and extracted with dichloromethane. The organic layer is evaporate under reduced pressure.
