Ethyl 4-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-2-(thiazol-2-yl)-1,4-dihydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate (10 g, 27.6 mmol) was reacted with NBS (5.41 g, 30.4 mmol) according to the procedure as described in Example 1, Step B to give the title compound as a yellow solid (7.3 g, 60%).
